Blue
Star, a children’s
novel written by yours truly has just been
released by Loranda Publishing.
It is the
story of a 10-year old boy, Luke, who saves a greyhound from certain
death. With Luke’s love, care and
belief in the impossible, together with Blue Star (the dog), they both
develop
a strong bond and friendship that overcomes great obstacles. It is available directly from me for $14.99
plus postage and handling of $2
Many people
have assisted me with accurate background information for the book,
including
vets at Rossmore, Belmore, Croydon Park and Strathfield, as well as Roy
Maynard
of the Greyhound Racing Authority for which I am very grateful.
I
have
always been a great carer for animals and my love affair with
greyhounds began
with the dogs my grandmother raised, in particular the Arabian
Star who was the inspiration for the name of Blue Star. We grandchildren loved the Arabian Star
(or Tiger as he
was affectionately called) and he would let us ride on his back. After he retired, he lived the remainder of
his life happily with gran.
I have been
writing for many years with pieces published in magazines and
newspapers, but
this is my first published book. A
second one is coming out in the New Year.
It is called Travels of a Garden
Gnome and is a fun geography book for children.
I am a
schoolteacher at Holy Spirit College, Lakemba in the Special Education
Department. I am also the Secretary of
an animal
charity – Domestic Animal Birth-Control Society (DABS) which helps those in
need to have their pets desexed at a reduced rate.
